This is the fifth in a series of reflective blogs on anything that Noam Kroll blogs about. This time its about colour grading and how to retain sky detail. This blog is obviously all about colour grading and how Noam likes to colour grade his images to all the detail of the sky that is captures remains intact at the very end. He starts with the midtones of the footage, pulling them down to then play with the highlights and shadows. Once he’s happy with the contrast that this creates, he moves onto the saturation and colour balance. Usually making the sky have nice warm tones. The final step is to apply a lut to finalise the image or video. These are the before and after images.

There is a large improvement in the aesthetics of the photo and the details of the sky are very much important. I will be playing around with colour grading in the next couple of weeks to see what I can do with some photos that I have taken recently and over the years.
